Anyone who can be at the capitol tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, needs to register against SB 991 to authorize a pilot program to issue digital drivers' licenses.
If we think there’s problems with fraud now, wait till any hacker can get into the state database and issue digital drivers licenses to whomever they wish! Then there’s the ability of BIG government to shut off or invalidate your ID (and mess with your whole LIFE) if you fail to pay your taxes! Imagine the consequences of such technology. With over two million Texans in collections overpaid tolls by the state of Texas, wait till they can block your drivers license for any infraction they gin up!
Senate Transportation Committee meets in Room E1.016 at 8 AM tomorrow morning. We would appreciate you registering against this horrible bill! If you can stay to testify, even better!
