Commissioners to review toll road projects
By
With Montgomery County’s first toll roads under construction and the Grand Parkway coming closer to reality, county commissioners will hear about possible future projects when their court convenes Monday morning.
PTP Transportation is on the meeting agenda to make a presentation regarding toll roads in Montgomery County during a workshop of the Montgomery County Toll Road Authority.
County Judge Alan B. Sadler said one project to be discussed is the construction of toll roads that would start at the south county line and connect to east and west locations on Texas 105.
For that project to go forward, Sadler said voter approval would be required.
“They (toll roads) will be presented as separate items, so the citizens of this county could vote for one road and not the other, or both.”
The projects will be financed with revenue bonds, Sadler said.
PTP Transportation, which partnered with Montgomery County in the pass-through program, is handling oversight on construction of the two “flyovers” that are designed to ease traffic congestion at the intersection of Texas 242 and Interstate 45. Drivers who use the elevated roads will be required to pay an electronic toll, such as an EZ Tag.
Also on the agenda:
Cyber investigator: Precinct 5 Constable David Hill will request that commissioners approve a cyberporn investigator (detective), effective June 8. The investigator will be a full-time position. Cost of the position will be prorated in the current budget and funded by Precinct 2 Commissioner Craig Doyal.
Symphony pact: Commissioners will vote whether to extend the county’s lease agreement with the Conroe Symphony Orchestra for another five years – starting in July 1, 2015, and increasing the monthly lease from $1,000 to $1,200.
Commissioners Court is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Monday on the fourth floor of the Alan B. Sadler Building at 501 N. Thompson in Conroe.
